styling stories / silver silver

This weekend i had another shoot with Dilani, it was partly a school assignment but i figured i could just as well shoot an entire editorial. The theme was a mix of pastel's with tougher items and graphic prints. We made the editorial a little bit more interesting by using silver isolation material in interesting shapes in the background, which gives a pretty cool effect. Our model of the day, Quirine from max models was so freaking beautiful! She's worked for many big magazines so it was a real honor to be able to shoot with her. I honestly can't wait to show you guys the result of this shoot, but in the mean time, enjoy these backstage pictures!

styling stories // my first beauty shoot

Hey guys, so this post is a little overdue, but better late then never right? A little over a week ago i had a shoot with Dilani and Nikkie and our gorgeous model Hanna who has a blog as well! It was my first ever beauty shoot, which is a shoot that focuses on the make up instead of the clothes and all the shots are close ups. This means that you've got quite a limited space to 'style' which makes it harder to express the feeling you're going for. I personally find accessories really important in beauty shoots as you can't show many clothes. We shot 4 images, two in a white and gold angelic theme while the other 2 shots were very dark and mysterious. It was quite a hard shoot but that's good cause i learned loads. For example nikkie and dilani wanted to show a lot of skin which we hadn't discussed beforehand and i hadn't brought many 'revealing' items.. this meant that i had to come up with creative solutions to solve the problem. For example i used the sleeves of a jumper to create a crop top, and draped a piece of fabric around the models shoulder to make the look a little more interesting. Above you can see some backstage pictures i shot, we were shooting in a daylight studio and around 5 it got pitch black dark and we couldn't see a thing because there were no light except for the ones on the make up table.. that was kinda interesting haha. If you're wondering why the model is wearing those tartan pants, remember we were only doing close ups so she could keep her own bottoms on ;)! X

styling stories // plastic pastels

Image and video hosting by TinyPic Image and video hosting by TinyPic Image and video hosting by TinyPic Image and video hosting by TinyPic This weekend me and my roommate Kayleigh shot our first collaboration shoot together! It was a shoot with the theme 'Plastic Pastels'. Together we worked out the concept and styled both the props and clothes. We asked the lovely Liselotte Fleur to shoot the editorial for us, and Charlotte Mailhe did the hair and make-up. We really wanted to have a short wig with bangs and she totally nailed it! The idea for the shoot was to shoot clothes and props in interesting textures and pastel colours (mostly 'plastic' ones that reminded us of children's toys). To realise it we transformed our own home into a temporary studio, which was kinda cool. I'm sosososo excited to receive and show you the results, but that's probably gonna take a while, so for now the backstage shots will have to do, hope you like them :).

styling stories // botanical garden

Last weekend it was time to shoot again! Maxime shot beautiful Sophie, who's a new face at Elite. It was her first shoot ever and i'm sure she won't' forget about it soon! Most first testshoots are in a studio and the models just wear simple clothes, but Sophie got to play a futuristic nymph in a rainforest.. now how's that for being thrown into the deep. We shot at the botanical garden's in Utrecht, which is without a doubt the most peculiar and beautiful location i've ever shot at. I worked with beautiful designs from Janna van Vugt, who actually contacted me to ask if i wanted to work with her designs, i got so excited i pretty much bounced of my chair. I can't show you the results yet as they will be published on fashionmilk.com, but i did snap a few backstage shots and Bart (Maxime's boyfriend and also a super talented photographer) shot this awesome backstage video. I hope you like them!
