traveling | cape town day two

When my mum named a few options of things we could do in Africa one stood out for me, paragliding. Im not particularly the 'adventurous' type, i like some action every once in a while but something like bun jee jumping or skydiving is not for me. Paragliding on the other hand seemed like something i would really enjoy, i'm kind of obsessed with the idea of being able to fly, i've had countless dreams in which i possessed the superpower of flying. So yesterday we took the jump! I don't get nervous often and i wasn't scared either.. but i somehow managed to fail the first take off.. lame. Anyways, the second attempt went perfectly fine and there i was, flying in the air above cape town. I do feel a little bit stupid being the one that doesn't actually do something.. i mean i just sit there and enjoy.. wish i was the person steering the actual thing but then again.. everyone is good at something, and sports aren't really my thing haha.

After our flying experience we went to Boulders Beach.. this is the thing i was anticipating the most because BB is famous for it's penguin colony, and penguins happen to be one of my favorite animals (next to the platypus, meerkat and of course cats). I was a little disappointed when we got there.. i had imagined being able to bath in the water next to the penguins but all there was was a 'viewing point' on which you could watch the animals doing their thing on the beach. We decided to walk a little further and i was happy we did because there it was, a beach with penguins! There where only a few though.. like 3 or something but already i got excited like a 5 year old. We decided to bath through the water a little further and there we ran into several penguin colonies, i literally sat between them.. they allowed it all. The pictures are not close-ups! Ok you must think i'm stupid getting all excited over this :p. Below are some pictures, including several with me in bikini, it's not my aim to show pic's of me in my swimwear and unfit body buuut i just had to share this. Also.. can you see my burned legs? Yup.. i look like a pathetic tourist.

Eén van mijn beste vriendinnetjes is deze zomer naar Zuid-Afrika geweest en toen ze vertelde dat ze pinguïns had gezien geloofde ik er niets van. Nu wel!
